John Kruk Weight Loss: Hey everyone, it’s John Kruk here with a quick update on my weight loss journey. As you may know, I’ve been working hard to lose weight and improve my health for a while now. I wanted to share with you an update on my recent health situation and how it’s affected my weight loss progress. First of all, let me say that I’m still losing weight, but it’s definitely not going as quickly as I had hoped.
In fact, I’m currently down about 25 pounds from where I was when this blog first went live, which is definitely not where I wanted to be at this point. The good news is that the reason for this slowdown is largely due to some very minor health issues that have cropped up recently. Namely, I’ve been battling a sinus infection for the past few weeks and as a result, my calorie intake has gone down quite a bit.
Aside from that little setback, things are going pretty well overall. My overall health is much better than it was before and I feel really happy about the progress I’ve made so far in terms of both my physical and mental health.

In July 2013, I was diagnosed with leukemia. It was an extremely scary time for me as I had no idea what lay ahead. My oncologist told me that the prognosis wasn’t good and that I would likely not make it much beyond 6-8 months. But there was one ray of hope – my cancer was in a “poor prognostic area” which meant that if I could get my weight down to a healthy level, cancer might be less aggressive.
I started by cutting out all processed foods and sticking to whole foods as much as possible. Within 3 weeks of starting this new nutritional plan, my energy levels were up and my blood work showed a huge improvement. Unfortunately, leukemia continued to progress even though my tumor markers were going down. I ended up needing a stem cell transplant in December 2013 and things just didn’t look good from there…
But once again, John Kruk proved himself to be an amazing survivor. After his stem cell transplant, he made an incredible recovery and returned to playing baseball in spring training in 2016. He now lives life to the fullest and advocates for healthy living through his blog and speaking engagements.

I stick mostly to whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. I’ve also reduced my sugar intake considerably by opting for natural sweeteners like honey and stevia instead of processed sugars. And finally, I make sure to get lots of exercises.
Overall, these principles have worked well for me. In the past year or so, I’ve lost about 20 pounds and kept it off.

It has been quite a while since I’ve written an update on john kruk weight loss journey, but that is because life has been hectic. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in February, which led to multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Needless to say, our lives have completely changed and we have both had to spend a lot of time taking care of her.
Thankfully the cancer is now in remission and she is doing well – but the surgeries, treatments, and general stress have taken their toll on my own health. In addition to all this medical drama, I also started working out again around the same time as my wife’s diagnosis (due to her GI issues).
The added stress from training for a half marathon alongside battling cancer made it difficult for me to stick with keto consistently; however, I do believe that if I hadn’t started exercising again things would be much worse right now. So overall, things are looking up – but there’s still plenty of work left to be done. Thanks for reading!
